Who am I, and why should you care?
Hi. My name is Emmanuel Benami, but friends call me E or Emmy. I live in New York with my wife, our three amazing boys, and two dogs. I love chess, making electronic music, science fiction, thrillers, building products, and spending time with my family. I’ve spent more than a decade and a half building businesses and leading product teams. My background also includes work as a litigation attorney.
I started this blog to share things I’ve learned and work through questions I keep coming back to. Why do good ideas sometimes go nowhere? What helps people do their best work? What could we build if we questioned a few things we take for granted? Much of my writing touches on product, law, and AI, but I’m interested in the people making decisions and living with the results. As much as I’d like to present myself as someone who has always got it right, I’ve learned my most valuable lessons from mistakes, often the hard way. If there’s one thing I truly believe, it’s that there’s always room to learn something new, every day, every moment. I hope something here connects with you. If it helps even one person in some small way, whether through an idea, inspiration, or a little motivation, that would make writing it worthwhile.
