Support my work

Hey there! I wanted to share a few words about the projects here and why I’ve added a way to support them.

I build these projects for fun. Most start as tools I use myself, and I spend a lot of time testing them and working out what could be better. When I make something I think could be useful to someone else, I share it.

You can support my open-source projects through GitHub Sponsors, including Forge, AI Product Team, Writing Skills and Litigation Writing.

I hope something here helps with what you’re working on, or gives you an idea you can use. If it has, and you’d like to support the work, I’d be grateful.

What it costs

  • Anthropic and OpenAI. It costs over $400 a month to build and test with these tools. API calls and tokens account for much of the cost of trying things out and iterating on them.

  • Cloudflare and Vercel. There are also recurring hosting and infrastructure costs for keeping the projects online.

  • Fireworks (planned). An initial round of fine-tuning could cost about $300 per run, or $900 to $1,500 for three to five runs. This is an illustrative estimate based on Fireworks’ pricing, for training only. Testing the results and hosting the models would cost extra.

Those are the service costs. The time spent building and testing is part of doing something I enjoy.

What a donation helps with

Donations go towards running the projects and trying out new things to share. Any amount is welcome, even $1 towards the next experiment or a coffee.

There’s no expectation to give. I hope the work gives something back to you. If you do donate, thank you. I appreciate it.
